You Pre-Meds are lucky-virtually every school you apply for will have the same pre-req classes. Not to say you have it easy-I wouldn't want to be taking orgo and physics as an undergrad. Being a Pre-PA student, I've had a really hard time planning my classes. Each school I'm looking at wants something different. I have narrowed down my options based on class availability and graduation time. The classes I will be taking for PA school are
1. Anatomy & Physiology (1 year)
2. General Chemistry (1 year)
3. General Biology (1/2 year)
4. General and Developmental Psychology (1 year)
5. Microbiology (1/2 year)
6. Genetics (1/2 year)
7. Statistics (1/2 year)
8. Medical Terminology (1/2 year)
In addition to these classes, I will be taking an EMT-Basic class this summer to earn healthcare clinical hours. I have decided that if I don't get into PA school on my first try, I will take Organic Chemistry to supplement my application and expand my choices for graduate school. My top choices so far for PA school are:
1. Medical University of South Carolina
2. Elon University
3. High Point University
4. Duke University
5. East Carolina University
6. UNC-Chapel Hill
How have you prepared for PA school? What is your biggest advice to someone trying to get in straight after undergrad? Let me hear your story!
Emily
